WILLIAM DALE CONNOLLY On April 5th, 2018, William Dale Connolly entered into eternal rest, naturally, and peacefully at his home in Kennewick, WA. Son of William John Connolly and Helen Kuhn Connolly. He was born on February 5, 1924 in Brackenridge, PA. He entered the US Navy on March 11, 1941 and served in WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He served on the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier as a machinist seaman first class, and suffered injury on February 1944 as a result of a Japanese torpedo bomber strike. He was honorably discharged on October 2, 1944. After the war he attended the University of Pittsburgh but had to postpone his education due to lack of funds. During his search for work, he met his future wife, Ruth Borgman, a Carnegie Melon University Chemistry graduate, working at the Bureau of Mines. They remained married for 74 years. Bill returned to school, albeit with some delay due to raising 3 children and working, and graduated from Central Washington State University in 1984 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Bill, at one time a 3-handicap golfer, loved the game, and won the 1990 PNGA Public Links Senior Championship. He also enjoyed spending time with his wife, gardening, and traveling. He is survived by his wife Ruth, daughter Kathleen Boyle of Hauula, HI; daughter Sharon Mitchell of Richland, WA; and son James Connolly of Spokane Valley, WA. His legacy also includes 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Grant him rest O Lord, and may his memory be eternal.
