It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sandra Jane Laidlaw, born in Vancouver on August 14, 1939. Sandra passed away at her home in North Vancouver on April 26, 2021. Though diagnosed with cancer over a year ago, Sandra lived a full and independent life until her last few weeks. She is survived by her sister, Margot Reynolds (Ken); brother, Robert Laidlaw (Irene); nephews, Paul Reynolds (Lory) and Richard Laidlaw (Debbie); nieces, Lorie Raverty (Bernie) and Tracey Jensen (Jim); her foster daughter, Liza Greaven; Liza's son, Lucas; seven great-nieces and one great-great-nephew.
Sandra was a passionate quilter and enjoyed many years of laughter and community with her textile group LOLS (Little Old Ladies). Each member of her family plus many friends have been the fortunate recipient of one of her exquisite works of textile art.
The majority of Sandra's career as a Lab Technologist was with Lions Gate Hospital where she formed deep and lasting friendships. Many of these friends accompanied her on her extensive world travels. In her retirement, besides travel and her quilting, Sandra also found time to volunteer with the RCMP Community Policing and the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program.
We will forever be grateful for the support Sandra received from the North Shore Palliative Care Program and in particular the nursing staff during her final days.
A private family celebration will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice and raise a glass of scotch in Sandra's honour. She will be smiling.
