Marjorie (Margie) Mary Peavey
Nevada - Marjorie (Margie) Mary Peavey was born on Sept. 12, 1927 in Clutier, Iowa to Louis and Anna (Hala) Zmolek. She passed away on March 7, 2021, at Story County Senior Care in Nevada, Iowa.
Margie was united in marriage to Warren Peavey on May 16, 1964. They had 2 children, Michael Warren and Mary Ann. They lived in rural Maxwell where they had a dairy farm. After the farm was sold, Margie took jobs to "have something to do". She worked at Walmart, Lowes, Prairie Meadows, and sorted corn for Crow's Hybrid Seed Corn.
Margie enjoyed farming. She loved cows and driving tractors. She had her own herd of Herford cows and she made sure we knew the first tractor she drove was a Farmall F20. She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, crocheting, sewing, dancing, and polka music. A favorite tradition was baking angel food cakes from scratch for everyone's birthdays. She loved making family dinners and making sure that everyone had plenty to eat; her apple pies were wonderful. One of her most fun pastimes was her and Warren's trips to Meskwaki. They also enjoyed multiple trips to Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada. Her favorite was their month-long trip to Laughlin in January 1998. Her last trip to Meskwaki, she knew, even with her dementia, that 3 7's rolling down was a good thing!
Margie is survived by her children, Mike (Kelly) Peavey of Maxwell, Mary Ann (David) Peavey-Webb of Des Moines, and Tim Merfeld of Central City. Grandchildren Lauren Kappel, Whitney (Thaine) Jass, Derek Morrison, Russell (Kara) Merfeld, and Jake (Courtney) Merfeld and 7 great-grandchildren: Brynn Kappel, Brezlyn Jass, Emerlyn Jass, Roughlyn Jass, Emmett Merfeld, Rowan Merfeld and Penelope Merfeld.
Margie is preceded in death by her husband, Warren Peavey, in 2009. Her parents, Louis and Anna Zmolek, Stepson Bill Peavey, brothers Charlie Wacha, Jerry Zmolek, Edward Zmolek, Milo Zmolek, and sister Dorothy Prusha.
