Ann Kathryn Jacon Conroy, 95, of Troy, passed into eternal rest on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center, surrounded by her loving family.Ann was predeceased by her beloved husband of 71 years, John L Conroy; and her precious daughter Patricia English. She is survived by her devoted family, including her son, Jack (Terry) Conroy of Clifton Park; her grandchildren, Michael English of Albany, Mark English of Rotterdam, Laura (Mike) Foster of Rotterdam, Brian Conroy (Elizabeth Ives) of Colonie, and Sean Conroy of Clifton Park; her great-grandchild, Lillian Foster of Rotterdam; her son-in-law Ed English of Rotterdam; her sister, Theresa (Bill) O’Connor of Troy; and her brother, John (Jean) Jacon of Averill Park.Ann was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Rutkowski) Jacon. She is also predeceased by her siblings, Mary (Matt) Pochman, Toni (Gus) Argay, Helen Jacon, Jane (John) Granato, Sophie Jacon, Joseph (June) Jacon and Tom (Dolores) Jacon.She was a lifelong resident of South Troy, and a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church and Holy Trinity Church. In her early years, Ann was employed at a few manufacturing facilities including: Cohoes Dyeing and Finishing, Cluett Peabody, Berk Ray, and during WWII, Behr Manning Abrasives Division in Watervliet. After raising her family, she worked for a short time at the Troy Record newspaper, but most of her labor was performed in and around her home. She continued to climb ladders and take on outdoor tasks into her late 80’s, always wearing her hard-working Polish heritage proudly. Ann mainly enjoyed being with her family, providing a considerable amount of child care for all five of her grandchildren. In her later years, she enjoyed word puzzles, Doctor Laura, and Judge Judy.She is also survived by over 40 nieces and nephews, taking great pride in remembering the name and approximate age of everyone.The funeral service for Ann will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. from the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, 336 Third St., Troy and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Troy. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.A special thanks to the staff at Kingsway Manor and Kingsway Arms Nursing Center for their devoted and caring service. Additional thanks to members of Community Hospice for their thoughtful service as Ann’s life was approaching its end.
