Patricia Keough Obituary

Patricia Anne Keough WEST SAND LAKE - Patricia Anne Keough, 63, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 after a long illness. Born and raised in Tarrytown, NY, she was the daughter of the late John P. and Lena C. Madden. She was a 1972 graduate of Russell Sage College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Immediately following her college graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, James F. Keough, before moving to West Sand Lake, where they resided together for 41 years. Caring and nurturing by nature, Pat was a pediatric nurse at Albany Pediatrics for the past 30 years. Selfless and generous, she put the needs of her family, friends, patients and pets before her own. Her horses were her passion, and she was committed and dedicated to them. Her determination, tenacity, honesty, loyalty, faithfulness and humor are traits that were cherished among the many lives she touched. Survivors in addition to her husband include her son, Brian S. Keough and his wife Nicole of Menands; her daughter, Leanne J. Keough of Troy; her sister, Kathleen D’Eufemia and her husband Joseph of Tarrytown, and her granddaughter, Morgan Patricia Keough, amongst numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc., 276 Pawling Avenue in Troy on Sunday, from 4-7 PM. Funeral service will be held Monday at 9 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Stephen Cordes, officiating. Interment will be in Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Patricia A. Keough to The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, at 295 Valley View Boulevard, Rensselaer, NY 12144. For a private family guest book and service directions, visit www.brycefh.com.

I just learned of Pat's death today. I am so sorry for your loss. I met Pat nearly four years ago when I began bringing my son to Dr. Abbott's office. She was an excellent nurse and always so friendly -- just the right person to put a new mom at ease. I will miss her smile and her stories about her family.

Jim, Leanne, and Brian
I'm so sorry for your loss and the difficult times you had over the last several months while Pat was ill. I'll never forget the times we spent on the ski slopes together and I will always remember how one day at Jiminy Peak she said "Dale, you've made me love winter through skiing! Thank you so much!" That is an incredibly wonderful statement to hear for those of us who teach skiing. The Little Sisters of Jericho will miss her deeply.

Our family was blessed to be cared for by Pat. She was always the calm in my storm as a new AND experienced parent. Dr. Abbott's office was our second home. We are sorry to hear about her passing and know this is a difficult time. We know we have a new angel watching over our children from above.

Dear Brian and Leanne, I was so saddened to hear about your Mom. Although it has been many many years since I have seen you all, I still have such fond memories of you as children in the WSL Health Office. Your Mom was one of the most warm, caring, and compassionate parents that I had ever met in all my years there. Her love and devotion to her family was always evident. I am so sorry for your loss . My condolences to your Dad and your Family. Love, Mary Ann Pratt-Stark

PAT WAS OUR NURSE AT DR. ABBOTT'S OFFICE AND I WAS NOT AWARE SHE WAS ILL HAVING NOT PERSONALLY BROUGHT MY SON TO HIS APPTS. IN 2 YEARS DUE TO CARING FOR MY MOM WHO DIED IN APRIL.

IN ALL THE YEARS PAT HAS BEEN OUR NURSE I ALWAYS LOVED HER STORIES ABOUT THE FAMILY, HORSES, TRIPS AND MOST OF ALL HER SMILE - NO MATTER HOW BAD THINGS WERE FOR US - HER GREETS WITH A SMILE WAS SUCH A BLESSING.

AS A NURSE MYSELF I ALWAYS APPRECIATED HER PROFESSIONALISM, COMPASSION, AND HOW SHE TREATED ME AND MY KIDS. BEEN A PT. SINCE 1988!

MAY MEMORIES BRING YOU SOME COMFORT IN THE DIFFICULT DAYS AHEAD - I WILL LIGHT A CANDLE FOR HER IN MASS. GOD BLESS!
