Gilbert Vogel

Gilbert Vogel of 52 Brian Drive, Trumbull passed away at his home on November 27, 2015 at the age of 92

Gil was born in 1923 in Nymegen, The Netherlands He and his wife of 67 years, Nora immigrated to the United States in November 1956

Gil put himself through college by attending night school while working full time at WS Rockwell Co in Bridgeport as a design technician He earned his engineering degree and later got a job at Yale University as Technical Director of Division of Sciences He worked there for the remainder of his professional career

Gil and Nora were an inseparable, active couple throughout their lifetime They attended the Westport/Wilton YMCA 2-3 times a week for over 30 years, where Gil was the instructor for the "No Frills Adult Fitness Classes" They were active in ballroom dancing for 20 years, hiking and sailing They were active members of the Westport Unitarian Universalist Church

Gil leaves behind his beloved wife, Nora, two daughters, Edith and Nancy, and their husband Raymond Deese and Robert Gost, respectively Gil and Nora had 3 grandsons - Carlo DeAngelus of Old Fort, NC, Jason Gost of Menasha, Wisconsin, and Marco DeAngelus of Burkburnette, Texas They have 2 great grandchildren - Angelina DeAngelus and Elsie DeAngelus

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations for their church - Westport Unitarian Universalist Church in Gil's memory He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched
