Jeffrey W. Phillips

Jeffrey W. Phillips 5/1947 - 11/2013 Jeff Phillips, age 66, died suddenly in Stanley, Idaho while visiting family, friends and his beloved Sawtooth Mountains November 29, 2013. Jeff has worked as a Physician Assistant in the Weiser area since December, 2006; for the past year, he has been employed by Valley Family Health Care and worked in their clinics in Idaho and eastern Oregon. Jeff was born in Bethlehem, PA, first son of Dr. John and Grace Phillips. His family moved to Arizona when he was four years old and settled in Tucson, which was home until his move to Idaho in 1978. Jeff graduated high school in 1965, and entered the Marine Corps in 1967, honorably serving his country until 1971. Jeff joined the Tucson Fire Department in 1974 and worked as firefighter and paramedic until moving to Boise with his wife, Cheryl in 1978. During his 22 years in Boise, Jeff filled several positions with Ada County Paramedics, ending his time there as Assistant Director. He returned to college at Boise State University, earned a BBA in 1981, and then worked at Boise Cascade for a few years as an accountant. Jeff's servant heart wasn't fulfilled by corporate accounting; in 1990, he entered MEDEX Northwest at the University of Washington, graduating in 1992 as a Physician Assistant. As a PA, Jeff's career has included Surgery, Family Practice, Geriatrics, Emergency Room, Wilderness and Urgent Care at facilities in Bisbee, AZ and Boise, Stanley, Caldwell and Weiser, ID. Jeff is beloved by family, friends - new and lifelong, and many of the patients he served. A Celebration of Jeff's life was held in Weiser in December. Surviving Jeff: his wife of 37 years, Cheryl; his mother, Grace Phillips; brothers, Harry, Bill (Karen); sisters, Vade Henderson (Tom), Holly Dolgaard and Stefany Blais and 11 nieces and nephews. Jeff also leaves behind his "adopted daughter", Raechel Driscoll, her husband Tony and "granddaughter" Sadie. A Memorial Service will be held in Tucson on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 400 E. University.
