DE FRIESE, Alice Marie (Ali) left us on March 7, 2018. Born August 18, 1948, in Springfield, Missouri, she moved with her family to Arizona in 1954. There she obtained her BSN, later earning her MSN AND PhD in Nursing Education. She worked for the Veterans' Administration from 1981 to 2018. During her 38 year career with the VA, she held many positions and was a consistent advocate for veterans. Ali toured the globe singing with the Veterans' Administration Chorus. She loved traveling, but she loved coming home to her family even more. Her parents, Robert and Alice De Friese, preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving son, Darren Chadderdon and daughter-in-law, Michelle Mazza-Chadderdon; grandchildren, Gemma and Jack; sisters, Phyllis De Friese and Pauline Hancock; brother, Robert De Friese; cousins around the globe, as well as by her life partner, Robert Gaines, Jr., and many friends. A Service at Saint Barnabas on the Desert Episcopal Church, 6715 N. Mockingbird Ln, Paradise Valley, AZ, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to or to the Community Food Bank.
