FIMBRES, Irene Gonzales 90, born in Tucson, AZ on December 31, 1927, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 4, 2018. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Irene is survived by her daughters, Carol (Terry) Gaughan and Mary Helen Fimbres (Vicky Leggett); sons, Gilbert (Lily) Fimbres, Richard (Mary) Fimbres and Steven (Jo-Ann) Fimbres; her brothers Carlos and Jose Gonzales. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Irene is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Gilbert V. Fimbres; her parents, Jose Gonzales and Josephina Hidalgo Gonzales; her siblings, Margarita, Frankie, Mike, and John Gonzales and great-grandson, Andrew James Kennedy. She worked at the University of Arizona, but left to raise a family and later took care of her mother, father and brother as they each battled illnesses. She was also the care giver of her husband after he suffered a stroke. In her life she always put others ahead of her own needs. She volunteered at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus fundraisers and other organizations donating her delicious rice, beans and salsa! She was our prayer warrior. She was cherished by so many and will be missed beyond words, but we know she is in a better place. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 8, 2018, 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary (South Chapel) 240 S. Stone Ave., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Friday, March 9, 2018, 10:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 300 S. Tucson Blvd. with internment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.
