HOSKINS, Johnnie Herbert, died August 30, 2014. Born October 9, 1940 to parents, Clifford Hoskins and Eula Ruth in Lynch, Kentucky. Johnnie lived much of his life in the service of his country. Leaving his family farm in West Virginia at 17 and joining the Air National Guard, he later transferred into the Air Force as an Intel Photo Interpreter and Linguist. While stationed in Berlin, he met and married the love of his life, Angelika Otto. Following a tour in Southeast Asia, Johnnie joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars - a decision that would shape the remaining years of his life. He dedicated himself to helping fellow vets in many roles in both the VFW and the Military Order of the Cooties - at the local, district, and state levels. His dedication even resulted in the creation of a brand new VFW Post in Germany. Post-military life found Johnnie helping less fortunate people with Arizona's Aid to Families with Dependent Children. In his younger days - he enjoyed dabbling in the theatric arts - from constructing sets to acting as a decapitated soldier in a performance of Pippin for a local theatre group. A U of A alumnus and rabid Wildcat fan - Johnnie enjoyed watching both football and basketball. Johnnie is survived by his wife, Angelika; son, Thomas (Bernadette) of Parker, Colorado; daughter, Kristin of Tucson, Arizona and granddaughter, Molly and the thousands of former brothers and sisters in arms he has encountered over the years. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at VFW Post #549, 8424 E. Old Spanish Trail, Tucson, AZ 85710. Arrangements by FUNERARIA DEL ANGEL SOUTH LAWN.
