Maxine LaVerne Hale 86, passed away at home August 10, 2011. She was born in Akron, Ohio December 22, 1924 to Leon Henry Doty and Ada Mary Thompson Doty. She married John F. Hale October 8, 1943, and accompanied him around this country and Europe during his years in the Air Force. Maxine began a career in the savings and loan business in 1962, rising to VP at Home Federal Savings (later Great American). After retirement, she joined the Pima Painting Club and Rose Society, and volunteered at the and TMC Senior Companion Service, using her talents to provide art opportunities for Alzheimer's patients in the "Making Memories" program. She also volunteered in the office at her church. She is survived by her daughters, Dona (Gordon) Ritchie and Susan French; grandchildren, Jason, Alison, Damien and Jessica; three great-grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Christ Church United Methodist, 655 N. Craycroft, Tucson. Donations may be made to the of Tucson.
