Emerson Leith Sollom was born on February 11, 1921, in Reynolds, North Dakota. He was the oldest son of Ella and Lars Sollom. He had three brothers and three sisters. He attended school in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He married Thordis Thoresen on September 28, 1941. They were married 68 years. Emerson entered the Army Air Corp and flew 29 missions over Japan in the B-29 during WWII. His professional love was the grocery business where he spent the last 30 years with Red Owl Corporation in the mid-west. He retired as Divisional Manager of the Northern Region. He also enjoyed traveling, camping and gardening. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. Emerson is survived by his wife, Thordis; their three children, Sharon (Jim), Terri (Bob) and Steven (Darnell); their eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Connie, LaVonne, and Donna; and one brother, Luther. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church at 4520 W. Ajo Way in Tucson.
