Obituary

Dr. Daniel J. O'Neil 75, joined his Heavenly Father on June 12, 2012 with his family and friends by his side. He was born in New Orleans and attended school in Baton Rouge. He resided in Tucson for the past 46 years. Daniel graduated from Louisiana State University where he also obtained his Master's Degree. He obtained his Phd from the University of Texas and taught at the University of Tennessee. In 1966, he began his long career at the University of Arizona. He taught Government and specialized in Comparative Religions in the Department of Political Science. He is survived by his long time companion, Ray Vasquez. He is also survived by a brother, Laurence O'Neil and wife, Grace, and two sisters, Kathleen Willoughby and Mary Clary and husband, Mic. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Aaron Bourg, Catherine Willoughby, Colin and Danielle Clary, all of Baton Rouge, and one great nephew, Cade Clary. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at St. Melany Byzantine Catholic Church on Thursday, June 21, 2012 with a Mass at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Melany's Byzantine Catholic Church. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY.
