Diane Clodfelter Obituary

Diane Rae Clodfelter (Dolly) Diane (Dolly) left her family and friends too soon on May 26, 2013. She was born on the Sioux Reservation at Fort Peck, Poplar, MT., on June 28, 1945. Diane and her family settled in Tucson, AZ, where she graduated from Tucson High School. She was the proud mother of two wonderful daughters, Emie Lee (Theriot) and Mary Denise (Webster). "Dolly" was the oldest of six children and "Big Sister" to sister, Mary Krachmer (Frank), and brothers, Robert (Bobby) Duckwiler (Nancy), David Duckwiler (Rena), and Lee Duckwiler (Carol). She leaves two grandchildren that meant everything to her, Travis and Courtney Webster. "Dolly" was predeceased by her father, Robert Duckwiler; mother, Georgia Schoenherr; sister, Denise Duckwiler and beloved aunt, Emma Abbott. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Diane's very close, special friends: Maria Diaz, for providing Diane with years of service, support and love; Gail Dunlap and Richard Siegel, for their very special, long-time friendship, evolving in later years to "The Three Musketeers" as Diane labeled them; Carol Cramer, Laura Rowe and Laurie Guillaume, for years of friendship. Diane started her career at Hughes Aircraft Company with a plan to retire, and after 26 years ("Magic 75"), she did - July 2000 (then, Raytheon). While at Hughes, Diane worked various programs, from ARBS to the Phoenix, AMRAAM and RAM Missile Programs. She was a whiz as Proposal Section Head and negotiated numerous contracts over the years. While on AMRAAM, Diane "sweated it out" in Florida, for months at a time and numerous trips, negotiating with her Government Customer. She was famous for her "commanding" persona. One of Diane's favorite pastimes was to introduce family and friends (dubbed by Gail as "Holding Court") wherever she was, but especially on Sundays at the Doubletree Champagne Brunch. Her favorite and loving waitress, Kafette, would assure that her table was ready and Diane would sit for hours and talk to everyone in the room. No matter where she was, Diane would try to make contact with as many in the room as she could, making each of them instant friends. Diane will remain a treasured mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Per her wishes, there will be no funeral and burial will take place in Poplar, MT. where she will join her mother, sister, and beloved aunt in eternal peace. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in her name, to the Foundation for Alcoholism Research, Telephone: 802-758-2243, P.O. Box 51, Bridport, Vermont 05734 or on-line at http://alcoholismresearch.org/ (email: [email protected])(100% of all donations go directly to research.) With deepest regrets, I have learned of your passing today...almost a year since you've passed away. I cannot believe that you are gone. You've been the greatest first boss I've ever had. You chose me over others, and 15 years later, I am still employed. You were an awesome mentor and friend. The 9 months we spent together went by so fast. You knew everything about me as I did of you. I apprecaited all the stories you told me. Diane, you are so blessed with loving family and friends. You are truely missed. Thank you for all you did for me. In so many ways, I felt like I was a daughter to you. I cherish that you called me "Kid"... The last time I saw you back in 2010 was with my 2 younger children and my mother. I am glad you were able to meet them. We all miss you and love you. Continue to watch over us as we will meet again. You will always have a place in my heart!

I've never laughed so hard or so long as when with Diane and her dear friend Carol! Diane's gasps of incredulity brought each of us to try to shock her again....such joy. And her wonderful cooking talent; we will all miss the holiday gatherings in her warm and gracious home. Emie and Mary, you are so blessed to have had her as your mother. You will miss her forever and think of her so very often. Jim and I are glad to have known her. Our prayers are with you and all her family and friends.

A grand lady has passed away. Diane worked for me (as if anyone could be her "boss") and with her for at least 35 years. We had some knockdown, dragout arguments and she chased me around the bullpen with full intend to do me bodily harm many a time. We loved each other. She was a devoted Hughes Aircraft employee in the truest sense. You could find her at the old proposal center late at night trying to get her crew to get the proposal out on time. I know that I speak for many fellow employees and friends when I say we will miss you Diane.

Diane was a special person so very capable with great knowledge and always willing to help. Her wonderful directness and commanding presence allowed her to obtain success when things where tough and no one else could. She came to the Phalanx program when we needed her even though her plate was always full. Her accomplishments meant a lot to the whole team and myself especially. What a great lady!!

Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies to Emmie, Mary, and all of her family and many friends.
