Alvin Foster

HAYWARD, Calif. Alvin Foster, age 58, a native of Tuscaloosa, died Oct. 6, 2007, in Hayward, California. Services will be 12 noon Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Jesse J. White, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Oak Memorial Park with Rollins' Mortuary directing. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church.

Alvin was born July 17, 1949, in Fosters, Alabama, to the late Arthur Foster, Jr., and Mary Martin Foster. He was educated in the Tuscaloosa City School System and attended Druid High School where he earned a football scholarship to Tuskegee Institute. At Tuskegee, he achieved many academic and athletic honors and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. He later attended Boston University where he earned a Masters degree in Business Administration in 1975.

Alvin began his career working in the Insurance Industry while playing semi-professional football. He was later drafted by the Baltimore Colts. He also worked as an Administrator for Ford Motor Company. Toward the end of his career, he was self-employed.

Among his various civic affiliations, Alvin was a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.

Alvin left an incredible mark on everyone who knew him, especially his close-knit family. He always encouraged them to "Reach for the Stars." Alvin's memory will be forever cherished by his loving, devoted mother, Mary Foster Royster of Tuscaloosa; four children, Shelby Williams of Boynton Beach, Florida, Walter Cole of Detroit, Michigan, Bridgette Foster Lowe (Elgin) of Hayward, California, and B'weikia Foster of Manhattan, New York; three grandchildren, Jasmin Whidby, Kendall Lowe, and Kori Lowe; five brothers; five sisters; a host of other relatives and many special friends and loved ones.
