Ella Bias Obituary
TUSCALOOSA - Ella Bias, age 91, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, peacefully passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Hospice of West Alabama. She was born in New Martinsville, West Virginia and married Dale Bias on October 23, 1950. They enjoyed a long marriage that lasted more than 59 years.
Ella began her career at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Huntington, W. Va. in 1952 and quickly worked her way into management. She transferred to Asheville, N.C. in 1978 and retired from Federal service in 1983. Ella was a proud and dedicated servant to veterans and remembered her working career fondly.
She is survived by her two children, Michael Bias (Roberta) of Tuscaloosa and Jackie Maher of Baton Rouge, La.; grandchildren, Jeffrey Bias (Amanda), Madison Roussell (Justin), Meredith Maher, Michael Maher; and three-great grandchildren, Alana Bias, Cayden and McKenzie Corkern.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Della Arnette, and her siblings Virginia Henthorn, Ruth Hanlin and Robert Arnette.
She was remarkably healthy most of her life and had a heartfelt love for animals, especially her Doberman, Harley. Ella was an exceptionally kind and generous soul that touched the hearts of friends and family. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Ella was a member of Valley View Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Brother Billy Joy officiating.
