Opal Marie McBride

NORTHPORT Opal Marie McBride, age 81, of Northport, died March 2, 2010, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North with Joe Williams and Kerry Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Greensboro with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alfred Johnson; parents, William E. Massey and Beulah Estelle Massey; brothers, W.R. Massey (Myrtle), Richard Lee Massey (Wilomenia), Ralph Massey (Hazel) and Luther A. Massey (Martha); and sisters, Mattie Mae Massey (Algie) and Lavanda Boozer (Luther).

Survivors include her husband, William Alphis McBride; daughters, Susan M. Rose (Kenneth) and Margueritte Aultman; stepdaughter, Donna Whitehead (Jim); sons, Richard C. Mitchell (Donna) and Alfred “Foots” Johnson, Jr. (Octavia); grandchildren, Lynsey Johnson (Al), Kimberly Reynolds (Michael), Shelley Aultman (Amy), Penny Aultman, Al Aultman, Carson Mitchell, Elesha Feldman (Robert), Alex Johnson and Emily Whitehead; and great-grandchildren, Les Johnson, Rose Johnson, Cace Reynolds, Luke Reynolds and Jackson Aultman.

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother “Nanny”. She was a member of the Greensboro Church of Christ and the Northport Church of Christ for many years. She was the postmaster at the Epes Post Office for 24 years. Her love for life and people was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Baxter, Wesley Hubbard, George Beckham, Dan Whitstone, Carley Snider, Rick Morrow, Ted McIntosh and Alvin Dauchy.

Honorary pallbearers are members of the Northport Church of Christ, Greensboro Church of Christ, University Church of Christ, employees of the United States Postal Service and friends in Greensboro, Ala.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Northport Church of Christ or Hospice of West Alabama.
