Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother & Friend Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on July 18, 2013. Born on October 6, 1928 at Ancker Hospital to Ben & Oriole Greene. Grew up on the East Side of St. Paul, graduating from Harding High School in 1946. Daniel married his high school sweetheart, Marion A. Chenoweth on May 15, 1948. The two raised six handsome sons in their White Bear Lake home with lots of love. Daniel started his career at General Outdoor Advertising. He then went to work for Naegle Outdoor Advertising and spent the next 40 plus years as a Bill Poster. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing and camping and taught his sons about the outdoors. He enjoyed traveling the world with his loving wife, Marion. Family was his joy and source of energy. Papa Greene's love and passion went beyond just his family. He showed so many that family is much more than blood and accepted all with open arms. There was always an extra plate at the table for anyone in need. Daniel was passionate about sharing his wisdom with young people, especially his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many others would agree. Daniel is preceded in death by his brother, Patrick Greene. He is survived by his wife, Marion; sons, Steve (Kitty), Mark "Traveler" (Kathy), Michael (Lisa), Daniel, Jon & Christopher (Angela); 23 grand-children; 18 1/2 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Memorial Visitation 4:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, July 23 at Mueller Memorial Lake Chapel, 4738 Bald Eagle Ave @ 3rd Street in White Bear Lake.

I am truly sorry for the loss of your father. Although I only met him a few times at Johns house on the 4th of July campouts, he seemed to be a truly amazing man. Sending prayers to you all. Remembering all the happy times is what gets a family through.

Dear Green Family, I will always remember your Dad as such a nice person. He would always remind me of our birthdays on the same day Oct. 6th He was such a fun,and nice neighbor. He always gave us those rolls of paper to color and draw on. I am glad I went to visit Dan & Marion when Mark was getting the pool ready for them this year. God Bless

I just read what Tom Newcome wrote, and he was so right about Cathy and I having such a crush on Dan. Our best memories are our vacations we spent in Minnesota on Kenny Lane. Dan took time to teach a city girl how to ski. I kept falling, so he got behind me on the skis until I finally got up. I am grateful for those wonderful, fun, memories. May God bless you and your family. Marie Bennardo

Dear Marion-You probably won't remember me because it's been so long ago but I worked at the then called St. Paul Ramsey Hospital at the front information desk while you worked in the chaplain's office. I remember, fondly, when your dear husband Dan, would sometimes stop by the hospital for a quick visit and I remember thinking what a nice (and handsome!) guy he was. He was friendly to everyone there. How blest you both were to have each other! My sincere sympathy to you and your family on the loss of your husband and father. In time, may all the wonderful and happy memories move you through this sad time.

Dan will always be my favorite neighborhood dad. He was cool before I knew what that was. Baseball on Kenny Lane. Sitting in his car so he could play an 8-track of one of his favorite songs for me like Born on the Bayou by Creedence Clearwater Revival. My visiting Aunts all had a crush on Dan because he was so handsome. I've thought about Dan many times over the years with fond memories. My condolences to the entire family. Tom Newcome.

Dear Dan:
I don't even know where to start. You have brought so much joy to my family's life. There are many memories that will never ever be forgotten. When I moved into this neighborhood, I never knew that I would be moving next door to a family I never knew I had, and I am thankful every day for finding you. I will never forget the HOURS spent in your kitchen talking, laughing and sometimes crying. No matter what the situation you and Marion were beside us all the way and provided love and support like only a real family could. I will always remember when my father died and you told me you would never be able to replace him but that you could take care of me like a father, and that's exactly what you did! I'm sure dad will be shaking your hand when he sees you...proud that you did such a great job! You already had many grandchildren (and great-grandchildren), but you took my kids in as your own grandchildren. They will forever remember "Papa Greene" with much love. Thank you, Dan, for everything. I miss you already, and you better believe that I pray that when it's my turn to be called home that I will be your neighbor there, too. (I know, I know: "God help me!") He will. :)
With much love,
Lori

I have many fond memories of Dan. Yes, even posting bills, delivering 1/4 sheet posters, and two summers of Seagrams Seven billboards. Best of all was the camping and fishing. Our sincere sympathies to Marion and the family. Bob and Janet Lasar.
