Beloved Mother & Grandmother Celebrated 100th birthday on 7/1/12 Erika was born in St. Paul to Anna & Frederick Mauck shortly after their arrival in the U.S. from Germany in 1912. She married John Neihart Aug. 31, 1937 and they shared 61 loving years before his passing in 1998. She was also preceded in death by her brother Hellmuth Mauck & son Frederick. Survived by sons Jack (Gale) & Peter (Ceil); 7 grandchildren Debbie, John, Janet, Julie Anna, Jennifer, Julie Ann & Jesse; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; special cousins Gunther & Dorte Bornholdt of Albersdorf, Germany. Erika's family always came first and she spent much time sewing, cooking & baking for her "boys." She was active in the Audubon Society and loved to read and learn about anything to do with nature. She always had a beautiful yard at their home on Wheelock Pkwy that they built in 1940. Her happiest days were spent at the cabin she and John had in Lutsen, MN. Erika maintained her independence until 4 years ago when she moved first into Birchwood Arbors assisted living and then to their Healthcare Center in Forest Lake where she was well cared for and quite popular among the staff and other residents. She always kept her humor and good nature. A special thanks to all of them. She will be missed by all who knew her. Visitation 1 pm followed by 2:30 pm Memorial Service Sunday, Jan. 13, at ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 1401 Arcade St. (Hwy 61), St. Paul. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Our condolences to all of Erika's family and friends. She was a great lady and I especially enjoyed her story about the decorative garden planter her father made for Como I think and two leftover for Wheelock! My last visit with her was at Ramsey Care Center before John died. 100 is amazing and I congratulate her strength. May God be so good to all her family. Fred and Nancy Hoelzel, JHS 1954. (Neihart's were on my pioneer press route 1950's)
