Gwendoline Margret Maeble SHARROW Obituary
Born Dec. 2, 1930 to Dorthy and John Burns in Ipswich, England. Preceded in death by parents and brother Ron Burns; sister, Pamela Page, Shiela Brooks. Survived by loving best friend and husband of 64 years, Larry Sharrow; daughter, Robyn Anne Gilbert; son-in-law, Tony Gilbert; grandson Graham Gilbert; brothers-in-law, Roland Page, Heath Brooks, Robert Sharrow, and Clarence Sharrow; sister-in-law, Lucille Sharrow; three nieces and one nephew in England; two nephews and two nieces in the U.S.A. Gwen was a remarkable and memorable lady. She exuded glamour, dignity, and humility. She would never leave the house without proper coordinated attire, neat hair style, and dignified makeup. It was common place for strangers to stop her in public to complement her on her striking appearance. She always accepted the complements with grace and humility. Gwen valued friendship and made friends easily. Gwen worked hard on developing social skills and graces. She could respectfully communicate with people of all levels of social or business spectrums. She started out her business career as a telephone operator and elevated herself, through night school and self help to the position of executive secretary to the CEO of British Road Services in England. She spent the last 20 years working at the CC. Sharrow Co. where she provided professional clerical and secretarial services to a small business. As her brother-in-law Robert Sharrow said, "Gwen was a Godsend to the Sharrow family and business." Gwen developed a great rapport and mutual respect with all levels of employees within the Sharrow Co. She was very helpful to the hourly employees with insurance and personal problems. She was their mentor. Great listener. They were friends, not employees. Gwen was kind, loving, and generous. She could always find a small gift for a friend in need. If her daughter Robyn mentioned one of her friends was in need, Gwen would find a way to help. Gwen and her best friend, daughter, Robyn, generally telephoned daily. Her love for her immediate family is enormous. When Graham Gilbert, her grandson, had a serious medical problem she contributed time, money, and help to see Graham through his crisis. Gwen planned, implemented, and oversaw her mother-in-law and father-in-law's 50-year wedding anniversary. The guest list exceeded 200. In any endeavor, she strived for excellent results. Her success rate was high. Gwen was always a lady. Born British and a proud patriotic American citizen. Gwendoline Margret Maeble Burns Sharrow was named for the midwife who delivered her, Gwendoline, and Princess Margret of the Royal Family. Gwen's greatest loves were her immediate family, fashion, shopping, and ballroom dancing. She played golf to please her husband, Larry. Gwen and Larry were very compatible, she learned to play golf and Larry took dance lessons. They made many friends from both. Gwen's best friend Larry, was always at her side. Her immediate family, Larry, Robyn, Tony, and Graham will miss her forever.
