Beloved Husband, Father, and Minister to many Age 86, of Mendota Heights Deacon John Lewis Murphy, age 86, of Mendota Heights, passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on Friday, August 3. He was born in Millarton, North Dakota on November 22, 1931 to Leo and Mamie (nee Lilley) Murphy. Deacon John is survived by his beloved wife of over 60 years, Carol Ann (nee Tschida); sons, Patrick Michael and John James (Jeanne) Murphy; grandchildren, Kallie and Jess (Jackie) Murphy; great-grandchildren, Ella Grace and Avery Clare Murphy; sisters, Patricia (late Dave) Orlady, and Bette Jo (Frank) Lang; brother, James (Betty) Murphy; sisters-in-law, Lorraine (late Jay) Hamilton, Marilyn (late Eugene) Gonsowski, and Dorothy (late Ron) Doyle; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jim; sisters, Rosemary and husband Bill Bennett, Colleen and husbands Myron Haroldson and George Mastel; brothers, Leo and wife Kay; and Thomas J. Murphy; mother-in-law, Dolores (nee Kammerer) and husbands, Thomas Tschida and Elmer Schuster, and brother-in-law, Thomas Tschida. Deacon John served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, his family through his undying love and devotion, and his LORD through his Ministry in the Minneapolis-St. Paul Diaconate, graduating in 1984. He served as Deacon at the Church of St. Matthew for over 34 years, and 29 years on the Humboldt Campus of Cerenity Care Center. He will be forever loved and treasured. Visitation will be 3-6 PM, Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Klecatsky and Sons West Chapel, 1051 South Robert Street, West St. Paul, and 1 hour prior to 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial, Monday, August 13 at the Church of St. Matthew, 510 Hall Avenue, St. Paul. Deacon John will be laid to rest with his son, Jim, in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, with Honors. In lieu of flowers, Memorials are preferred to the Church of St. Matthew or Redeemer Al-Anon. 651-457-6200
