A first generation Romanian girl who throughout her life understood the value of simplicity. Julia had a "special" love - affair and held hands daily with her husband John (now deceased) for nearly 60 - years. Always true to her Romanian Orthodox faith… her family… and her friends. Julia enjoyed a happy… healthy… good and long life. She loved living in South St. Paul. She was an advocate of volunteerism… led by example and was formally recognized by the McKnight Foundation as a Minnesota top volunteer. Good in the kitchen… you bet! A role model already missed… never to be forgotten. Died at home… in the arms of her children. God bless her… and you. Funeral Service at 11AM, Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 at ST. Aunty Julie,
I have missed you these past years and will keep on missing you now. You were always kind and loving toward me, even making Uncle John drive me home on those nights when I wanted to go home at midnight.
Love Your Godchild,

Dear Joanne and John,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Funaris was a name mentioned a lot in our home. Julie was a wonderful person, just like a second mom to me. She was always laughing and yet always willing to listen if you needed her. Her house was kept perfect and she was a very kind person. I have many memories as her and John were part of the "gang" that had fellowship with my parents, Bill and Vernie. The ladies would have coffee parties and then solve all of the world problems. We need more friendships like this in the world today. I will be praying for comfort for both of you. God bless you.
With love,
Dori Woods (McCollum)
