Sister Marguerite FERBER LSP Obituary
Virginia du St. Esprit (Edith Mary Ferber), 90, Little Sister of the Poor, died January 1, 2018 at Holy Family Residence, St. Paul. Born in Baltimore, Maryland Sister Marguerite Virginia was the 6th of 8 children born to Laura and John Ferber. At the age of 30, Sr. Marguerite converted to the Catholic faith. She met the Little Sisters of the Poor while working in a meat packing company in Baltimore and not long after entered the congregation. She pronounced her Vows on May 2, 1962 in Queens Village, NY and for over 55 years she served the needy elderly in Louisiana, California and Missouri before arriving in St. Paul in 2001. Sr. Marguerite Virginia was well known by numerous friends and benefactors who marveled at her sense of humor. Her community, employees and volunteers valued Sister's witness of her calling, her love of the Blessed Mother, the Rosary and Angels. Visitation Sunday 4-8 p.m. with Rosary and Vespers at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Residences, 330 Exchange St. South, St. Paul. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Donations honoring the elderly poor served by Sr. Marguerite Virginia may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor in St. Paul.
