Pat DEMOULLY CSJ Obituary
An exemplary teacher and administrator who spent her life deeply devoted to improving the conditions of the poor are ways those who knew her best describe Pat DeMoully, CSJ. Born Mary Patricia on June 26, 1925 in St. Paul, MN, Pat died peacefully on January 8, 2019, at Carondelet Village in St. Paul. Pat entered the community of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1944. In 1955 she earned a BA in History and Elementary Education from the College of St. Catherine, and in 1979 an MED and EDS from the University of St. Thomas. Pat's vocational work included nearly 20 years as a primary school teacher at many St. Paul Catholic schools including: Cathedral, St. Cecilia, St. Leo, St. Mary, and St. Luke. She later became principal at St. Luke and St. Stephen in Minneapolis, where she successfully mentored countless new first grade teachers and worked tirelessly for the promotion of the educating the poor, stressing that "high academic goals are how you break the chains of poverty." In 1992 Pat traveled to Jonestown, Missouri where she taught at the Jonestown Learning Center's after school program and later served as Project Manager for Habitat for Humanity in Farrell, MS. Pat was an avid camper and lover of nature, poetry, biking, and a good game of cribbage. Pat is preceded in death by parents Melvina (Vienneau) and Leo Nick DeMoully; sister Connie Lott; brothers James, John and William DeMoully. She is survived by brother Thomas DeMoully; sister-in-law Marilyn (William) DeMoully; nieces; nephews; lifelong friends; and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and Consociates. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, January 15, 2019, 11:00AM, in Our Lady of the Presentation Chapel, 1884 Randolph Avenue, St. Paul, MN, with Visitation at 10:00 AM preceding Mass. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights, MN, following luncheon at Carondelet Center in St. Paul. Memorials preferred to The Sisters of St. Joseph Ministries Foundation. Sister Pat, rest in love and peace.
