Dick was one of the greats. Such a kind, hard working, and dedicated man. A good friend at the FD and a wonderful daughter Angie also became part of the FD family. He will be missed. Rest in peace ❤. Cindy

I knew Dick as, Herm, Leitner. Super nice guy, who was a great ball player! He was really loved by many people, and I know his wife, Judy, adored him! He was always fun to hang around with!

For many years as our children grew up together with the Leitner children, their friendships held wonderful memories for us. Dick and Judy will always be among our treasured memories. With heartfelt sorrow when we heard of Dick’s death, we are reminded of our own, yet pending, mortality. And now our thoughts are with Judy, Angie, Lyssa and Zach as they mourn and miss the dear husband and father who was such a great figure in our community. Each of their children carry on Dick’s talents, courage and dedication to family. I know all of his grandchildren, will miss him so much. Respected, admired, and deeply loved, may he Rest In Peace and from beyond this earthly existence forever watch over each one of them. He was surely greeted by the many who he saved as a fireman. I’m certain that Judy will find, in time, that he is with her in spirit and will help her move through the many days and years to come.. She is certainly one of the finest People I have ever known and although time and space have distanced us, I hope she knows that I love her and I remember. May the Lord bless and keep the Leitner family as they grieve and forever more.

I played a lot of broomball and softball tournaments with Dick back in the 70’s and early 80’s. New him from Minnehaha lanes and the Vic. Great guy. A real friend. Ran into him a few times back in 2006 when our sons were playing baseball against each other in HS and a couple Legion tournaments. Always took time to visit and catch up. Great times. We both had our wedding receptions at the same place in No. St. Paul. Shared lots of cocktails with him back in the day. Just a fun guy with a great personality. I’ll miss him. Thank you for your service Dickie. Condolences to Judy and the family. Rest In Peace my friend. You were one of the best.

Dear Judy, Angie, Lyssa and Zach,

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Dick. This was truly a shock to so many of us who knew and worked with him. He will be missed for sure. I felt fortunate to see him and you a few weeks ago at the golf course. We had a chance to catch up on a few things and had a some good laughs before his crew went out. Dick was an excellent firefighter, but more importantly he was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. We had many good times working together and he will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families in this time of grief.
