1933 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
Stanley Duane SORENSON Obituary
was a devoted spouse, proud father, loving grandfather and caring friend. Stan was born in 1933 on a farm near Frost, MN and was the eldest of five boys and while he spent his adult years in Minneapolis, he remained a "farm boy" at heart. Stan graduated from Mankato State with a degree in chemistry and later received his Master's Degree in Public Health from the University of Minnesota. He spent the early days of his career as a teacher and professor, and later spent the majority of his professional life working for 3M. For 30 years, Stan traveled extensively around the world visiting 3M manufacturing facilities as an industrial hygiene specialist. His 55-years of marriage to Jo Ann resulted in three children, three grandchildren, and years of memories raising his family in Minneapolis. Stan's first priority was spending time with his family, followed by reading books and serving his church and community. Some memories of Stan include attending his children's school activities, reading to his grandchildren, watching the Vikings play, washing dishes at church, and volunteering at Minnehaha Academy library. Stan is preceded in death by his parents Selmer and Margaret Sorenson, brother Wallace Sorenson, and niece Kelly Sorenson. Stan is survived by his spouse Jo Ann Sorenson; daughter Ann Sorenson Domanski (David), daughter Mary (Sorenson) Welsh (Christoph), and son Steve Sorenson (Gretchen); grandchildren Shepherd, Sophie and Catherine; and brothers Roger, Carroll, and Merrill. Funeral service 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 10th, with visitation starting at 1:00 pm at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 3045 Chicago Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55407. In lieu of flowers, the family has designated the Mount Olive Lutheran Church Foundation (address above; 612-827-5919) or the MN /Research (7900 W. 78th St., Suite 100, Edina, MN 55439; 952-830-0512) for memorial contributions. www.Washburn-McReavy.com Nokomis Park Chapel 612-721-1651
