Walter Mann Obituary

Mann, Walter Hugo - Retired District Court Judge Age 88 Of St. Paul Died peacefully on Feb. 11. Walter was born Dec. 14, 1915 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He served 4 1/2 years in the Army, of which 2 1/2 years were served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII in New Guinea as a company commander. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a law degree, practiced law in Windom, MN for 15 years and was Cottonwood County Attorney for 10 years. In Marshall, MN, he was a judge in the 5th Judicial District for 25 years, then served as a district court judge in Hennepin County for 8 years. He was an avid golfer and bowler and was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in south Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Sylvia and Marcella; and daughter, Melinda. He is survived by his wife, Polly; daughters, Barbara Franck of Alameda, CA, and Connie John of San Francisco; son, Mike of Crystal, MN; and 6 grandchildren. Memorial service Monday, Feb. 16 at 7 PM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 4537 3rd Ave. S., Minneapolis, in the chapel. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Home in St. Paul or W.A.M.M. Cremation Society of MN (612) 825-2435.
