Walter Hugo Mann

Mann, Walter Hugo - Retired District Court Judge Age 88 Of St. Paul Died peacefully on Feb. 11. Walter was born Dec. 14, 1915 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. He served 4 1/2 years in the Army, of which 2 1/2 years were served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII in New Guinea as a company commander. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a law degree, practiced law in Windom, MN for 15 years and was Cottonwood County Attorney for 10 years. In Marshall, MN, he was a judge in the 5th Judicial District for 25 years, then served as a district court judge in Hennepin County for 8 years. He was an avid golfer and bowler and was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in south Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Sylvia and Marcella; and daughter, Melinda. He is survived by his wife, Polly; daughters, Barbara Franck of Alameda, CA, and Connie John of San Francisco; son, Mike of Crystal, MN; and 6 grandchildren. Memorial service Monday, Feb. 16 at 7 PM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 4537 3rd Ave. S., Minneapolis, in the chapel. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Home in St. Paul or W.A.M.M.
