83, of St. Paul, MN Died Friday, November 4th 2016 Daughter of William and Mary Jezerski and sister to Lorraine Mannering, June Lynch and Dorothy Thorkee. Marlene passed away at Our Lady of Peace Hospice after a year long battle with cancer. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy, her cousin, James Jernberg, her three sons: John Tomars, Michael Tomars and Thomas Tomaro, eight grand children: Nicole Melton, Anthony Tomars, Dakota Tomars, Maria Tomars, Evan Tomaro, Alayna Tomaro, Elise Tomaro and Ayden Tomaro, one great-grandchild: Kylie Melton, and Jacqueline Mannering. It was her expressed wish that Nancy Jernberg be recognized for devoted commitment to Marlene during Marlene's final days. Marlene was born and raised in Duluth, MN. She was Salutatorian of her class at Stanbrook Hall and graduated Cum laude from St. Scholastica in 1955. She taught fifth grade in Duluth and was a substitute teacher at Nativity School in St. Paul. She worked in Customer Service for Kempf Paper in St. Paul until her retirement in 2005. A devout Catholic, Marlene's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She was an avid reader and loved eating good food, listening and dancing to Polka music and yearly sojourns to the State Fair. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Services will be held Friday, November 11th at Nativity of Our Lord Church, 1900 Wellesley Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55105. A Visitation will be held at the church at 9:30AM, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM. A reception will commence in Nativity Parish's Steiner Hall following Mass.
