Obituary Condolences

McDonough, William J. Age 76 Of Oakdale Formerly of Arlington, MA; Stillwater, MN; and Austin, TX, died peacefully on April 7, 2008, at Lakeview Memorial Hospital, where he had previously celebrated the birth of five of his eleven children. He was well cared for by his physicians, Drs. Stratte, Williams, Mahoney, Quaday and colleagues. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary (Wallace); brother, Paul; son, Stephen; and granddaughter Allyson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years Kathleen (O'Mahony), children Kevin, William C. (Brent Derowitsch) Kathleen (Melanie Ruda), Mary (Paul) Sutter, Gerald (Paula), Patrick (Karen Steele), Sean (Amy), Denis (Kari), Anna (Jack Furlong), and James (Angela). Bill is also survived by his pride and joy - his 13 grandchildren: Colman, Jeremy and Hannah Sutter, and James, Sean, Christopher, Adeline, Liam, Edward, Grace, William, Joseph and Clare McDonough. He is also survived by his loving sisters Mary E. "Liz" McDonough; Patricia M. McDonough, C.S.J., and Margaret M. McDonough. Bill was an active member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church and previously of St. Mike's in Stillwater, an avid walker and a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox, St. John's University Johnnies and Stillwater Ponies. He is a 1953 graduate of Boston College and retired from 3M in 1997, after 43 years at "the Mining." He loved history and took an interest in the lives of many people around him. He was proud to have served on the Archdiocesan Board of Education and the St. Croix Valley Consolidated Catholic Schools Board. He cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial 1:00PM Friday April 11, 2008 at ST. PETER CLAVER CHURCH, 375 North Oxford Street, St. Paul. Visitation Thursday 5-8PM at SIMONET FUNERAL HOME, 6429 Osgood Avenue North, Stillwater and 11:00AM until the time of service at the church.
