Edward A. GEHLING Obituary
Age 81, of Coon Rapids, MN passed away peacefully Dec. 21, 2012 after complications of dementia. Preceded in death by his loving wife Lucille of 55 years and daughter Paula. Survived by brothers, Vernon (Shirley) and Tom (Kathy); and sister, Alice (Ken) Grable. Also survived by children, Rick (Mark), Janice, Den, Bob (Keri), Ken, Karen (Ron) and Michael (Laura); 8 grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Born and raised in Milwaukee, WI. U.S. Navy Korean War veteran from 1948-1952. Ed was a ceramic tile setter by trade and a member of Bricklayers Union Local 1 for over 50 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Anoka County Veterans Council and a Life Member of Coon Rapids VFW Post 9625. As a Past Commander and All-State Quartermaster, Ed volunteered many hours of his time over the years to the VFW, his community and to the construction and growth of the current post. He was a resident of Coon Rapids since the early 1960's, a Charter Member of Epiphany Catholic Church, and a lifelong blood donor to the American Red Cross. Ed rarely sat still and was always there to lend a helping hand. He will be truly missed and remembered with love by his family and friends. A special thank you to the caring staff at Margaret S. Parmly Residence in Chisago City, MN. Visitation 4-8 PM Thursday, Dec 27 at Washburn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd., and one hour prior to Mass at the church.
