Oren Robert STEWART

1922 - 2015

On the morning of June 21, 2015, Father's Day, our beloved Oren passed away peacefully in St. Paul, MN. Oren was 93 years old (and wanted 94). Oren Stewart was born in Comfrey, MN on May 5, 1922. He was the only son of 6 children to Bertha Klabunde and Sherman Stewart. Oren proudly served our country with the Seabees in the Navy from 1942-1946. After returning, he married Georgene Childs in St. Paul, MN on June 20, 1948. Oren joined his father in the construction business and built his own home and cabin, and many others in the St. Paul Como area. He never retired, and never wanted to admit he was getting old. As he aged, he deepened his passion for woodworking. As much as he loved his woodworking, still above that he cherished his family and spending time at the cabin on Lake Amelia in Villard, MN. Oren's spirit and his sharp, witty, and dry sense of humor made him a memorable person. Oren is survived by his wife of 67 years, Georgene (Jean) L. Childs Stewart; daughters Karey, Janice (Ken), and Annette (Mike); son Bob (Deb); grandchildren Keri (Rich) and 3 sons, Rob, Neil (Sarah), Matthew (Lindsi), Mitchell (Natalie), Katie, Maya; and sisters Florence and Carol. Services for Oren will be public. Processional leaves Thursday, June 25th at 11 am from Holcomb-Henry-Boom-Purcell Funeral Home; 515 W. Hwy 96 at Mackubin, Shoreview, or meet at Ft. Snelling Natl Cemetery (lane #2) by 12pm for a brief graveside service. A celebration of Oren's life will be held Thursday, June 25th 4-8 pm at North Oaks Country Club; 54 E. Oaks Rd North Oaks, MN.
