Edgar H. LECHNER Obituary
Age 95, of St. Paul passed away peacefully on Nov. 5, 2015. Edgar is reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Evelyn and daughter, Barbara; parents, Edward and Theresa; brother, Lawrence and sister, Adeline. Born in Fessenden, North Dakota, Edgar was a proud alumnus of the University of Minnesota where he played on two national championship football teams in 1940 and 1941. After one season with the New York Giants, Edgar practiced dentistry in Highland Park for nearly fifty years and served as the Minnesota Vikings team dentist. Edgar enjoyed playing golf and bridge with his many friends and was a longtime member of Town and Country Club in St. Paul and Pool & Yacht Club. Edgar was a humble gentleman who was kind to everyone. His spirit will live on in the hearts of the many people he touched. Edgar is survived by his son, Edward James (Jeanne) of Bloomington, MN and Tampa, FL; grandsons, Matthew (Becky) Lechner and Joseph Walker, both of Bloomington, MN; three great grandchildren, Henry, Emma and Theodore and several friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten. A Memorial Service for Edgar will be Monday, November 16, 2015 at 11 a.m. at HOUSE OF HOPE CHURCH (797 Summit Ave., St. Paul). Memorial donations may be made to the University of Minnesota Football Enhancement Fund c/o Golden Gopher Fund Suite #275, 516 15th Avenue SE, Minneapolis, MN 55455.
