I remember walking through the Olson kitchen many times when I was a kid and seeing Mrs. Olson very intently watching golf on TV. One time, she stopped Danny and I on the way through and said, "Danny watch this woman putt, she can't miss today, she's amazing." We watched the player make a long putt and Mary Kay, joyously said, "See what I mean. Then, shaking her head she said, "I don't know how she does it with those chrysanthemums in the way!" She gave us a wry smile and a knowing giggle. So funny! Dan and I have been laughing about that one for a long time now...
Back in 2010, I remember telling Dan I bet your mom is happy because Irishman, Graeme McDowell had just won the PGA championship. Dan said, "Yep, we watched all day on Sunday, she really wanted him to win!"
Mrs. Olson was the best - later in life she would ask Dan what my real name was, she didn't like my nickname, "Inch" and refused to call me that... She would say, "Tom, Tom that's right, that's better...so how is your mother doing?" We would go on and have a great conversation. When I talked with her I always felt at ease and that she cared very deeply about what I had to say.
Rest in Peace Mary Kay! I know Glen is on "Cloud 9" you have joined him in heaven!

Dear MK...family and friends,
I will always remember my first meeting with MK...when I walked out of the house I turned to her son, Ken, and said "your Mom is the smartest Mom I ever met." I was 15 y/o at the time...and that never changed!
I loved our (many) "kitchen" talks and loved golfing, and sharing life with MK and her fabulous family.
When MK had something humorous to say she had a way of quietly delivering her quip followed by an adoring Irish smile. Unforgetable!
MK was my second Mom and I am richly Blessed to know her.
Rest in well deserved peace MK...and may all your children find peace soon!
Your eternal friend,
Bobby Cardinal
