Khadiga Sharawi Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 26, 2010.
Khadiga Ikbal "SuSu" Sharawi was born on March 8, 1927, in Alexandria, Egypt.

SuSu had two sisters and one brother who each preceded her in death along with their parents, Abdallah and Cherifa Hilmi Arslan. SuSu married the love of her life, Said Sharawi, at the age of nineteen on July 28, 1946. Said preceded her in death on July 5, 1982.

After traveling back and forth, SuSu made the permanent move to Texas in 1994 to be with her sons and their families. She was extremely loved by all who had the true pleasure of meeting her. She always left an impression with her red hair, thick accent, and witty tongue. She is survived by her son, Hassan and daughter-in-law, Sheryl Sharawi of San Antonio; as well as her son, Sherif and daughter-in-law, Juanita Sharawi of Tyler. She is survived by her four grandchildren, Allison, Harris, Jenna, and Carly Sharawi.

Some of their favorite memories of their grandma are when she would tell fascinating stories of her life in Egypt. Her family loved spending a great deal of time with her. SuSu is also survived by her brother-in-law, Alan Sharaway of Heath; a host of nieces and nephews; as well as her friends at Atria Willow Park.

SuSu was a compassionate, amazing lady and led a life that will never be forgotten. Her family greatly appreciates the care and services of Azalea Trails Assisted Living, specifically, Linda Reed, and Hospice of East Texas. Her family will hold a private memorial service.
