William Rogers Hovey Obituary
Peyton. Bill was born and raised in Ukiah, California. Bill had an enormous zest for life along with a quick wit and sense of humor that was unmatched. Bill served in the Navy during the Korean War sending and
receiving Morse Code. Bill began his 42 year career at JCPennneys in Ukiah. He started in the stockroom and worked his way up to a top executive. He was the head of marketing and created the JCP Home stores. His career took him from from Ukiah to New York and Los Angeles with a few
other stops along the way. He retired at the young age of 60, playing golf most days He was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. Services for William Hovey will be held on May 13, 2021, 4:00 PM.

Bill was a mentor of mine when I accepted my fist real job at JCPenney. He took a number of risks with me and promoted me several times. I learned a ton from him and am sad to learn he passed. I wouldn´t be where I am today if it wasn´t for Mr Hovey.

I worked with Mr. Hovey several years ago in the District Office in Portland. He had such a great sense of humor.
