Billy Gene McCarn, 78, of Hopland passed away quietly at his home with his family present on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Bill was born in Atwood, Oklahoma, July 12 1939. Bill moved to Hopland when he was 8 years old and graduated from Hopland High School. Bill was a Supervisor for Caltrans, he also was a mill worker and a ranch hand during his working years. Bill liked hunting, fishing, trap shooting and team roping. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved life in general. Bill was an avid hunter and trap shooter, he loved to look for the biggest mule deer and wild hog. During high school Bill was one of the most outstanding baseball players in Hopland and Northern California. Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years Carolyn "Topsy" McCarn of Hopland, daughters Rhonda and her husband Jerry King of Cave Junction, Or., son Ray and his wife Nita McCarn of Sheridan, Wy., brother Jerry McCarn of Ukiah, grandchildren Ashee Kukuchka, Lindsay King, McKenzie Quigley and Justin King, also 8 great grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents JB & Lucille McCarn and brother Wendall McCarn. A potluck Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 27 from 1-3 pm at the Hopland Fire House. Arrangements are under the direction of the Eversole Mortuary.
