C. Remick Obituary

Exeter - C. Helen Robertson Remick, 93, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at Langdon Place of Exeter.

She was born in Exeter, July 5, 1919, the daughter of the late Allston and Clara (Bayley) Thorndike.

She graduated from Camden (Maine) High School and the University of Maine, Orono. She worked as a dietitian in New York City, managed the Winnacunnet High School lunch program and taught school as a home economics teacher in Groveton and Manchester at Park Side Junior High.

She was widowed at 42 and raised four children, Bonnie Mae, Nancy, John and James.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Frank C. Robertson; her brother, Paul Thorndike; and sister, Harriett Valley.

After retirement, she married Artis F. Remick of Province Lake, East Wakefield. She was president of the American Federation of Women's Clubs; she was an avid golfer, enjoyed traveling around the world and was an excellent seamstress, making many of her own clothes. She was an accomplished flutist and pianist.

services: Visiting hours are tonight from 5 to 7 at Stockbridge Funeral Home, 141 Epping Road, Exeter. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 6, at Rye Congregational Church, 580 Washington St. Rye, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery, Rye.
