MANCHESTER - Myron L. Bishop Jr., best known as "Mike", 65, of Manchester, passed away Nov. 12, 2012, at Catholic Medical Center with his family by his side.
He was born in Worcester, Mass., on Aug. 17, 1947, to Myron L. and Lorraine (Kimball) Bishop. The family relocated to New Hampshire in the late 1950s.
During his lifetime in the Manchester area, Mike was best known for his pawn shop, Treasure Chest Coins and later for his video store, Mike's Video.
He was most recently known at his friends business, Mickey's Pawn Shop, where he spent most of his time doing what he most enjoyed, finding treasures and striking deals.
Mike had a love of metal detecting, science and astronomy. He was also a talented artist, sketching and working with oil painting in his earlier years and was always a history and movie buff and could have put most people to shame on Jeopardy. Mike was overflowing with knowledge and didn't mind sharing it.
He will be deeply missed by his companion of 12 years, Sandra Zyliak, as well as his kindred spirit, Brenda Cunningham. He leaves behind two daughters, Shawna M. (Bishop) Johnson of Goffstown, Debra A. (Bishop) Curtis and her husband, Richard, of Weare; five grandchildren, Paul D. Johnson Jr., Skye M. Dimond, Stepanie M. Marte, all from Manchester, Kimberly A. Johnson and her fiance, Robert Mac Donald, of Canaan, and Paul M. Dimond Jr. of Weare; two great-grandchildren, Jasmine Marte and Liam A. MacDonald, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He will be remembered fondly by his lifelong dear friends, Jim and Norma Guinesso. He was predeceased by his parents and also his sister Gloria(Bishop) High.
