Joyce MacDonald Obituary

PLYMOUTH - Joyce (Philbrick) MacDonald, 79, of Plymouth, passed away on May 6, 2013, at the Golden View Nursing Home in Meredith.

Joyce was the daughter of Edgar H. Philbrick Sr. and Lillian (Joyce) Philbrick of Plymouth. She grew up in the town of Plymouth and enjoyed the love of many friends and family.

She was sister to the late Edgar H. Philbrick Jr., formerly of Oldwick, N.J., and Keith L. Philbrick of Holderness. She was married to Kenneth J. MacDonald and had one child, Jonathan S. MacDonald, whom she loved with all her heart and who predeceased her.

Joyce was a graduate of Plymouth Teachers College and taught school early in her career in Connecticut and later in Bow and Concord.

Over the years, she enjoyed antiquing, flower gardening and acquiring historical knowledge of her beloved town of Plymouth. She was a loving aunt and enjoyed spending time with her niece, Kara, who died in 1998, and she thought the world of her two brothers.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; her brother, Keith Philbrick and his wife, Shelly; a niece, Hilary Mackey; four nephews, Christian and Cabot Philbrick and Jonathan and Joel Delude; and three great-nephews, Adam, Auden and Gray.

.

services: As it was Joyce's wish to not have a formal service in rememberance of her, there will be a private graveside ceremony of her family members in the near future.

She was my first grade teacher in the Bow Mills School. For that 1 school year I was someone special, I was someone to somebody who didn't want anything back from me. She made me feel happy. No one has repeated that truly special feeling I had in 1st grade ever since. I often have thought of her + wished I knew where she was. So sad today when I saw she was in a home only a few miles down the street from me....She was a great lady, she made a difference in my life!

Dear Keith and Ken, Cami and my thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. I enjoyed seeing you, Ken, and Joyce while visiting my mother and brother's family when I came to Plymouth from Florida, and remember how much you and Joyce helped mom settle into Prince Haven. Your kindness will always be remembered. Joyce's parents, Lillian and Eddie, and she and her brothers were such wonderful friends of ours (the Tophams) we lived down a few houses on Broadway from the 40's to the 70's. love to you both, Cami Topham and Susan Topham Monier
