Andre M. Fortier

BEDFORD - Andre "Andy" Maurice Fortier of Bedford died peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Nov. 10, 2013.

He was born Dec. 26, 1932, in Manchester to Oliva and Marion (Boutin) Fortier.

Andy will be missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Lorraine (Morin) Fortier; and children, Phil Fortier and wife, Jodi, of Candia, Jean Fortier and wife, Karen, of Chester, Nanette Clark and husband, Ted, of N. Andover, Mass., Paul Fortier of New Hampton, and Monique Fortier of Barnstead; his daughter-in-law Cheryl and husband, Bob Loyas; his sister, Sr. Marguerite Fortier of Peru; and his 13 cherished grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Pete Fortier.

Andy served as a staff sergeant in the Army during the Korean War. He had a good work ethic and spent his life doing what he loved as a carpenter. He was noted as a skilled craftsman. On his wife's family property, he lovingly built a beautiful home. His grandchildren were his pride and joy; and the many swing sets, doll cradles, art easels and other toys that he made for them are the legacy that he left behind. Spending time in nature was his passion. We all have fond memories of him with his pipe and hat working in his garden. He most enjoyed the time he spent fishing at the family camp in Maine.
