Charles A. Bushnell

EPPING - Charles A. Bushnell, 81, of Epping, died Feb. 26, 2013, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital from complications of Parkinson's disease.

Charles was born Feb 23, 1932, in Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y., the son of Charles William and Cecelia Thom Bushnell.

He was predeceased in death by his brother, Robert, and twin brother, George.

He was a graduate of Hastings High School in Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y. He earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering from New York University and an MBA from Boston University. He was a retired captain of the U.S. Air Force.

Charles is survived by his wife, Janet Kimble Bushnell, whom he married in 1960. He also leaves two sons, Robert C. Bushnell and partner Heidi Brown of Plaistow and two grandsons, Nathan and Ian Bushnell of Haverhill, Mass.; his son, William K. Bushnell and his wife, Janine, and grandsons Andrew and Christopher Bushnell of Bolton, Mass.

Charles spent 37 years with General Electric Co. The last years being spent in Lynn, Mass., from where he retired.

He held both a private and commercial flying license and owned his dream airplane, a 1945 Globe Swift, which he completely restored. He and family and friends had many enjoyable times cruising the ocean and Merrimack River aboard his boat, The Manhatten.

Charles and Janet spent 15 years in Port St. Lucie, Fla., before returning to Epping in August. They enjoyed traveling to Australia, China and the Mediterranean countries, Alaska and the Caribbean Islands.
