Grace A. Mappes

LITCHFIELD - Grace A. (Poundstone) Mappes, 82, of Litchfield, died Nov. 14, 2012, at the Community Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Cincinnati on July 17, 1930, daughter of Mae Rose (Ring) and Frederick Poundstone. Her husband of 57 years, Richard L. Mappes, died in 2008.

She earned her degree from the University of Cincinnati, where she met her husband. She had lived in the Charlotte, N.C., area for 13 years prior to moving to Litchfield in 2007.

Grace will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother who enjoyed playing bridge, knitting and gardening. She was always active in her local parish, most recently volunteering at St. Francis of Assisi Church.

Family members include a daughter, Joyce Lezberg and husband Paul of Westford, Mass.; a son, Michael Mappes and companion Robert of Londonderry; nephews and nieces.


services: A calling hour at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, corner of North Street, will be Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Litchfield, at 11:30 a.m. Committal prayers will follow in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
