MELBOURNE, Fla. - Conrad A. Fontaine, 87, of Melbourne, Fla., died Jan. 11, 2013, after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Whitman, Mass., on Dec. 8, 1925, the son of Achilles and Blanche (Lowell) Fontaine. He attended Pinkerton Academy in Derry, N.H., then was drafted into the Navy during World War II and served on the USS Pasadena. Upon his return, he attended Syracuse University and George Washington University Law School (Washington, D.C.), where he received his Juris Doctorate in Law. He lived in Virginia for 40 years and became managing attorney for the Aetna Casualty & Surety Co. Upon retirement, he moved to Richmond, Va., then to Florida.

He was predeceased by his wife, Carmen (Paradis) Fontaine, of Manchester, N.H., in 1975.

Family members include his daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine and Gerard Visco; and three grandchildren, Thomas, Nicole and Lauren, all of Viera, Fla. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, grandnephews and grandnieces in New England and Florida.


services: A calling hour is Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. The funeral will follow at 11:30 am in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery where committal prayers will take place in the mausoleum chapel.
