HUDSON - Howard Dilworth Jr., 58, of Hudson, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Howard was born on Feb. 19, 1954, in Cambridge, Mass., the son of the late Howard Sr. and Roberta (Daniels) Dilworth.

Howard was very civic-minded and served the Hudson community in countless ways throughout his life. He was a volunteer Hudson firefighter for 27 years.

In 1993, he ran and was elected to the Budget Committee, and in 1994, when Hudson switched governing bodies from council to selectmen, Howard ran and was elected as a selectman, where he served a three-year term.

Howard was one of the founding members of the coalition of New Hampshire Taxpayers, a watchdog group for state government matters, in 1998 and was its first vice chairman. Howard also was the president of the Hudson Historical Society from 1992 to 1994, and has been active since, and has also been a member of the Nashua Regional Planning Commission and is on the executive board.

Howard is survived by his mother, Mary Dilworth of Hudson; a brother, Roger Dilworth of Hudson; a sister, Deborah Hayes and her husband, John, of Litchfield; a niece, Sarah Costello and her husband, Glen, of Londonderry; and many dear friends.


SERVICES: Visiting hours will be held on Friday, Aug. 24, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Ferry St., Hudson, with a funeral being held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, in the funeral home. Burial will take place in Hills Farms Cemetery, Hudson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: the Coalition of New Hampshire Taxpayers, 8 N. Main St., Concord 03301.
