MANCHESTER - James P. Byron Jr., 72, of Manchester, died March 21, 2013, at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Byron was born Dec. 29, 1940, in Stoneham, Mass., the son of James P. and Anna (Cummings) Byron Sr. He attended local schools there and graduated from Stoneham High School.

Jim worked at Prevue Company in Manchester prior to his retirement.

He was an avid bass fisherman, loved ice fishing, playing cribbage and spending time with his dog "Corky." Jim was an active member of the St. Joseph's Society at St. Hedwig Church where he also volunteered many hours working at bingo.

His wife, Elaine (Desharnais) Byron, died Dec. 23, 2009.

Members of his family include a son, James P. Byron III of Nashua; two daughters, Kelley Williams of Manchester, Kimberly Papik of Goffstown; three grandchildren, Tyler Brown, Madison Papik and Zachary Papik; his mother-in-law: Yvonne Desharnais of Salem, and many nieces and nephews.


services: Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Durning, Bykowski & Young Funeral Home, 285 Manchester St., corner of Beech Street.

The funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Marie Church, Notre Dame Ave. Burial will follow in St. Hedwig Cemetery, Bedford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Breathe New Hampshire, 145 Hollis St. Unit C, Manchester, 03101.
