MANCHESTER - Lawrence O. Deschenes, 72, died Sunday, July 1, 2012, at his residence in Manchester.

Mr. Deschenes was born in Salem, Mass., on Nov. 26, 1939, the son of the late Edward and Diana (Ouelette) Deschenes.

He was a proud veteran and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Deschenes was employed as a medical assistant with the VA Medical Center in Manchester.

He was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan and enjoyed attending the sporting events of his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his family, often joining them for Sunday dinners. He was a caring, compassionate man who always took the time to help others in need.

Members of his family include his three sons, Michael Deschenes, of Manchester, Stephen Deschenes, of Concord, Gregory Deschenes and his wife, Christie, of Bradford, Mass.; one daughter, Kimberly Boutin, of Lawrence, Mass.; seven grandchildren, Mathew, Kevin, Stephen, Robert, Walker, Ian, Mark; two brothers, Edmund Deschenes and his wife, Marilyn, of Wilmington, Mass. and Eugene Deschenes, of Melrose, Mass.; one sister, Lorraine Kimberly of California; his former wife of 21 years, Kathleen Sheerin of Laconia; close friend Phyllis Graham, several nieces and nephews.


SERVICES: There are no calling hours. Military honors will be conducted Friday, July 6, at 11:30 a.m, at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen. The Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Manchester, is in charge of the arrangements. For more information, go to
