Lois M. Meader

ROCHESTER - Lois Makechnie Meader, 86, died June 29, 2011, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born on March 21, 1925, in Cambridge, Mass., to Ernest and Aurelia (Perry) Makechnie.

She grew up in Burlington, Mass., and graduated from Burlington High School.

She went on to receive her A.B. in theology at Gordon College. She studied violin for many years under her father's instruction.

Mrs. Meader loved music, had a beautiful soprano voice and sang in several choral groups and church choirs. She loved flowers and could tell the name of every wildflower.

She was a devoted wife and mother of six. She also was a faithful member of the Second Baptist Church of Strafford and a longstanding member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Wolfeboro and Rochester.

Family includes her husband of more than 63 years, Dwight V. Meader of Rochester; children Alan D. Meader Conifer, Colo., Elaine Hebert of Keene, Karen E. Meader of Gilmanton, Jocelyn L. Poire of Gilmanton, Glen J. Meader of Littleton, Colo.; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Stephen P. Meader.


SERVICES: Calling hours are Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main St.

A memorial service is Saturday at 2 p.m. in Mecond Baptist church of Strafford, 1 Crown Point Road, in Strafford.
