EFFINGHAM - Lucy J. (Crocker) Espie of Effingham passed from this life on Jan. 7, 2014, at Huggins Hospital, Wolfeboro.

She was born June 23, 1923, in Berwick, Nova Scotia, daughter of the late Lee and Edna Crocker. Lucy came to the United States at the age of 3, settled in Concord, Mass., and became a United States citizen at the age of 16.

Married in Acton, Mass., to the late James (Jim) Espie in 1941, they made their home in Acton before moving to Effingham in 1952. Lucy worked at Malone Knitting in Wolfeboro, and at Parsonsfield Seminary in Parsonsfield, Maine, from which she later retired.

Lucy is survived by her children Sandra Pratt and husband David of Union, Barbara Perkins and husband Richard of Nashua, Mary (Mickey) Hurley and husband John of Hudson, Leonard Espie and wife Cindy of Effingham, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She leaves a brother George Crocker and wife Marion of Maynard, Mass. Besides her husband Jim, Lucy is predeceased by sisters Mary Crocker (Concord, Mass.), Ruth Norgoal (Maynard, Mass.), Clifford Crocker (Concord, Mass.), Kenneth Crocker (Westford, Mass.), Leonard Crocker (Westford, Mass.), Ronald Crocker (Effingham), and Ralph Crocker (Pepperell, Mass). Lucy is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and two sister-in-laws.


SERVICES: Calling hours will be held at the Lord Funeral Home, 50 Moultonville Road, Ossipee, on Saturday, Jan. 11, from 1 to 4 p.m. Funeral services and burial will be in the spring.
