MANCHESTER - Malcolm Wallace Higgins, 84, passed away at his home on February 5, 2018. Born in Mapleton, ME on November 15, 1933, he was the only son of the late Wallace and Lillian (Dow) Higgins.

Malcolm was raised in Mapleton, ME, where he lived until he started attending Gordon College in Boston, where he met his wife of 62 years, Ruth (Heggem) Higgins. He also attended Rutgers University, where he earned his Master's Degree. Malcolm spent his career in education, working as a High School English teacher for 33 years. Most of his career was spent at Bloomfield High School in Connecticut.

After moving to New Hampshire, Malcolm was very active in the local community. He served as director of the Fitts Museum in Candia and was also a member of the Candia Heritage Commission and Candia Historical Society. He was also a volunteer at both Keystone Hall in Nashua and Liberty House in Manchester.

Malcolm is survived by his wife, Ruth Higgins of Manchester; daughter Lois Pecora and her husband Wayne of Bonita Springs, FL; son Michael Higgins and his wife Nanette of Westfield, MA; son Stephen Higgins and wife Mary of Candia, NH; grandchildren Brian and Jason Pecora and Tommy Higgins; and great grandchildren Ava and Zachary Pecora.

SERVICES: A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 12pm-2pm at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. Family and friends are invited to attend. He will be laid to rest at Holbrook Cemetery in Candia, NH in the spring.
