MANCHESTER - Richard B. "Rich" Lemer, 95, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2013, at the Hanover Hill Nursing Home.

Born in Harrisburg, Pa., Richard was the son of the late Milton Marshall and Lillian (Rush) Lemer. Raised in Harrisburg, Pa., he was educated in Queensboro, N.Y., a graduate of Bryant High School, Class of 1937.

Following high school, Rich joined the civilian service of the U.S. Navy. He proudly served in Guam and Pearl Harbor. After many years of service, Rich relocated to Manchester in the 1970s to be closer to his brother, Robert.

An avid reader, Rich took great pleasure in reading about world history and travel. Through his civil service with the U.S. Navy, he was able to travel most of the world to truly experience all that he had read about. In his spare time, he enjoyed listening to classical and opera music. Rich surrounded himself with limitless friends, and had a love for animals and spiders. He was a friend to all, always willing to lend a helping hand. Rich will be best remembered for his upbeat and happy demeanor as well as his shining smile that could brighten even the darkest of days. A loving son, brother and friend, he will be deeply missed by all those who loved him dearly.

Rich is survived by many friends and acquaintances. In addition to his parents, Rich was predeceased by his two brothers, Robert and Milton Lemer.


services: His memorial service will be held in Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover St., Manchester. A memorial gathering will be on Monday, July 1, from 6 to 7 p.m., with a service at 7 p.m.; friends and relatives invited.
